In a major operation against organized crime, the US Coast Guard teams have successfully confiscated more than 5 tons of illicit drugs, estimated at $158 million, over the past several months.  The drugs, comprising over 11,000 pounds of ***e and 5,500 pounds of marijuana, were unloaded by the Coast Guard in San Diego on Monday.

These significant seizures resulted from the Coast Guard’s relentless efforts in the eastern Pacific, where they intercepted three ships involved in drug trafficking between May and July.  The Coast Guard’s vigilance and dedication were crucial in preventing these illegal substances from reaching the United States.

To strengthen their fight against drug trafficking, the Coast Guard collaborated closely with various agencies.  The Customs and Border Protection, FBI, US Drug Enforcement Administration, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement joined forces with the Coast Guard to tackle this pressing issue.  These agencies enhanced their ability to disrupt organized crime networks and intercept illicit drugs by combining their expertise and resources.

Notably, the Mexican Navy also supported the Coast Guard in these operations.  This international collaboration underscored the shared commitment to combat drug trafficking and ensured a coordinated response to the complex challenges posed by transnational criminal organizations.
