One of the two friends (nations of Colombia) travelling on the vessel dubbed Katya ATK without authorization was seen dead in a container three miles off the coast of the northern province of Samsun.

The other individual was released after his statement at the prosecutor’s office.

The Katya ATK ship’s crew members soon realized that the seal of the door in the hold of the vessel coming from Colombia to Samsun was broken and checked for the likelihood of a stowaway.

During the control three miles off the Samsun province coast, the body of Manuel Javier Prado Cortes was discovered in the container.

The vessel personnel captured Luis Antonio Obanda Castro, the illegal passenger, who was found alongside the body.

The incident was then reported to the coast guard by the crew members of the ship.

Per the initial statement, Castro, Cortes, who was with him, had passed away, and Castro had to travel with his friend’s lifeless body for four days.

Cortes’ body was taken to the morgue at Samsun Training and Research Hospital for autopsy.

In the meantime, Castro was taken to the courthouse after completing his procedures. He was released after his statement at the prosecutor’s office.

Officials mentioned that the cause of Cortes’ death can be determined once the autopsy is done.
