I have been a member of this listserv for about 2 months and have been very impressed with the knowledge and sharing of information. And since I am the editor for NYS TESOL's (New York State Teachers of ESOL) 24 page quarterly publication, Idiom I would like to put out a call for articles for the fall issue of this publication.
The theme for the fall issue is, "International Voices" and will have a deadline of Aug. 15. I have seen many topics on the listserv such as teaching bad language, plagiarism, vocabulary, etc. that would be interesting topics for 1100 NYS TESOL members who get copies of Idiom.
The following are the submission guidelines which are also on the NYS TESOL Web site www.nystesol.org Idiom
Idiom is a quarterly publication for members of NYS TESOL. Each issue focuses on a theme of interest to ESOL professionals, such as the job market, technology, assessment, and teaching ESOL in the content areas. Articles cover a broad spectrum of ESOL instruction, including elementary, secondary, and higher
education, intensive English programs, *** education, and teacher training. Besides theme-based articles, Idiom features the following regular columns: Book Reviews, Culture Notes, Promising Practices, and What Research Says.
Submission Guidelines The editors welcome articles as well as reactions to articles. All copy (typed, double- spaced, 200-1000 words) should follow APA guidelines and may be submitted via e-mail (MS Word ). Please include your name and address (including
telephone number and e-mail address, if available), as well as a brief biographical statement. (Anonymous contributions cannot be published.)Idiom's editorial goals are to be accurate, to maintain the writer's message, content, and style, and to fit the work in the space allotted. Idiom reserves the right to edit all manuscripts for clarity and brevity; the editors will consult with contributors regarding major substantive revisions. Articles from
Idiom may be reprinted with proper acknowledgment of the source.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
