Each voyage:

l         Kept latest stowage plan in fire plan.

Each watch:

l         Monitor all GMDSS equipment & Record.

l         Observe compass error & Record.

l         Radar log book record.

l         Change of watch as per bridge checklist.

Each week:

l         Complete SOLAS/MARPOL INSPECTION AND TEST RECORD

l         Weekly inspection LSA & FFE record in deck log book & Official log book.

l         Lifeboat inspection record book. (kept in File 16A)

l         General alarm & Fire alarm & Public Address System test.

l         Lifeboat visual inspection.

l         Lifeboat launching appliances.

l         Liferaft & Releases.

l         Lifebuoy & Self-igniting lights.

l         B.A & EEBD (check for leakage.)

l         Fire blanket.

l         Sound signaling apparatus.

l         Day light signaling apparatus.

Two weeks:

l         Fire man’s outfits.

l         Fire hoses/nozzles/hose boxes.

l         Fire main isolation.

l         Fire hydrant.

l         International shore connection.

Each month:

l         Complete SOLAS/MARPOL/OPA90 VRP/EMERGENCY TRAINING EXERCISES SCHEDULE AND RECORD & Exercise record.

l         Complete monthly lifeboat inspection record. (kept in file 16A)

l         Lifeboat fresh water changed.

l         Line throwing apparatus.

l         Distress signals.

l         SART

l         EPIRB.

l         Survival craft handed radios & spare batteries.

l         Fire extinguishers

l         Fire doors & closures

l         SOLAS (LSA&FFE) training manual reviewed and updated.

Three months:

l         Complete safety equipment record.

l         Safety posters & notices.

l         LSA/FFE signs & symbols stickers.

l         LSA/FFE plan.

l         Spare refills for extinguisher inventory.

l         Fixed fire-fighting installation.

Others:

l         Portable foam fire extinguishers need to be recharged with new chemical each year.

l         Movable foam fire extinguishers need to be recharged with new chemical each four years, but need to be inspected each year by qualified person.

l         Dry powder fire extinguishers need to be recharged with new chemical each two years.

l         CO2 need to be weighed each two years.

l         Hydrostatic testing of Cylinders:

Fixed installation - initial 20 yrs, then 10 yrs, then every 5yrs.

Fire extinguishers – 4 yrs

SCBA – 5 yrs

EEBD – 5 yrs

l         EPIRB need annual test.

l         Liferaft need annual survey.
