Dear teachers
I'm a teacher at the Instituto Cultural Peruano Norteamericano (ICPNA) in the city of Lima in Peru. I'm teaching teenagers and I need suggestions on how to keep them motivated in the classroom.
We've found it kind of difficult especially because some of the topics in the book we use (New Interchange and Passages) are not of interest for them. And we think even if they were sometimes they just don't want to talk about them. It's not an easy group to deal with and most of the time they don't like to be told the things they have to do. We feel they want to do what
they want and they have to feel motivated to do something. Besides, it's not like ***s that come here because they want to learn and they are motivated to learn when they come to class. Teenagers need something that motivates them to come to class.
Can you give any suggestions on how to motivate teenagers (adolescents) in the classroom? Games? Motivation tricks? Additional activities?
