Manifold watch and Mooring watch
Duty officer to take round on deck prior taking over watch and ensure that all is in order, The scope of rounds to be in detail ensuring that the vessel is in order during the time of taking over watch.
The areas shall include but not limited to..
• Moorings on deck including the chafing sleeves.
• Bosun store forward for any leak on the hydraulic system.
• Deck Pipeline ensuring that the pipelines are satisfactory without any leaks.
• Pressure gauges are reading same as COC gauges. Please ensure the valves/cocks are open on both sides of the manifolds all the times. Any manifold valve (not in use) leaking will be indicated by pressure on the gauge.
• Gangway is appropriately tended to and is in order. Gangway log shall be checked and signed by the duty officer when taking over watch.
• Aft stations to be checked for winch leaks. Fire wire is in order.
• Garbage area to be check for Marpol compliance. Any leak of liquid on the food waste shall be immediately notified to Chief Officer. Many Ports impose heavy fines for the food waste leaks.
• Manifold connections is in line with the vessels pipe-line. (Vessel has not moved forward/aft).
• Pump room rounds to be carried out.
• 4 Hourly checks as per Ship-Shore safety checklist
The duty officer shall enter in the log book that rounds have been taken prior taking over watch.
Hourly reporting
The deck rounds shall be taken by the duty AB on very regular basis. After taking the rounds the watchman to report as follows..
• Mooring condition
• Fire wire condition
• Pump room checks
• Manifold (if in line or not)
• Gangway condition.
The duty officer to acknowledge and log down in Cargo Log.
All this is for good order sake to ensure that proper procedures and log-keeping is maintained.
