23 January 2002 Transas Engine Room Simulator receives more functionality In January 2002, Transas released the latest version of its Engine Room Simulator (ERS 5.42). This version contains essential enhancements for the two-stroke model compared with the previous product modification. The ERS 5.42 features new Fresh Water and Sea Water cooling systems as part of the SDPP module for the 2-stroke slow speed Main Engine model. New Lubricating Oil and Fuel Oil supply systems have also been included in the simulator. The Instructor Station software has been enhanced to enable more potential faults to be introduced into the exercise scenario. Another major improvement implemented in ERS 5.42 is that it has been designed based on the common software platform for all Transas simulators to provide a fully interactive network with other types of Transas simulation systems, including those for ship handling, GMDSS, VTS, Liquid Cargo Handling and Crisis Management training.
